This is one of Melbourne’s oldest and most affluent suburbs. Situated along Melbourne’s coastline, only a short drive from Melbourne’s CBD, this beautiful suburb offers a grand lifestyle for those who can afford to live in this exclusive part of Melbourne. Brighton stretches along almost 6 kilometres of the coastline. Palm trees, gardens and open spaces line a pedestrian and bicycle pathway along the coastline. Real estate prices are one of the highest around Melbourne, with some amazing properties to be seen along the Esplanade. The stretch of sandy beach in Brighton is clean, with a view of the city skyline. The famous colourful Brighton Beach boxes on Dendy Beach is Brighton’s most popular attractions.
A beautiful Melbourne suburb for photography
There are beautiful gardens and historic architecture to be found in Brighton. Residents also love the pockets of separate shopping precincts, including the Dendy Plaza Shopping Centre which houses a cinema. A great selection of high-end retail stores and beauty establishments means that locals don’t have to travel too far. Bay Street Brighton has a lot to offer residents and visitors with its variety of cafes, restaurants, gifts shops and fashion boutiques. There is also Martin Street, near Gardenvale station, which offers a blend of contemporary retail stores and gourmet food outlets. Middle Brighton Baths is an iconic building and one of Melbourne’s premiere events venue, popular for wedding functions as it has a stunning view of Port Phillip Bay. The venue looks over Melbourne’s last remaining sea baths. The downstairs venue is great for those who are after a more relaxed drink or meal. Brighton even has its own “Royal” yacht club and its own golf club – which are also great for family photos.
Brighton Family Photographer
Brighton is a great spot for your family photography session, offering you a choice of a beach photo shoot, a park photo shoot or a more urban style photo shoot with beautiful architecture for your backdrop. Maybe you’ll opt for a couple of different locations around the beautiful Brighton area. We would highly recommend using the colourful bathing boxes but only during a quieter time. This location would be best at sunset when everyone is heading back inland for dinner or earlier on in the morning when it’s still too cold for everyone to head out. From experience, sunset time is much more achievable for the whole family.
Brighton locations for family photography
When choosing a location such as the Brighton Bathing Boxes, careful styling is required to avoid clashing with the colours and patterns of the boxes. Going with plain colours is always advisable. Casual beach dressing is great or you could go very dressy like the brides and grooms who regularly have their photos taken there. It’s a great spot to keep the kids happy. Walking barefoot through the sand will give us those smile which will light up your photos. Also think about the Brighton Yacht Club with it’s pier. Nice to combine it with a little break in the cafe.
When you are after more parkland. The St Kilda botanical gardens are not far and make a beautiful spot for family photography.
For those who don’t like the beach, the grounds of the Brighton Town Hall might be an option for you. The Brighton Town Hall is a very popular venue for weddings so you’ll have to find a day and time when it’s not in use. This beautiful building and its surrounding gardens make a great family photo backdrop. Smart casual dress is appropriate for this venue. The building is white so you could go with almost any colour wardrobe you wanted. Just remember to always co-ordinate every family member.
“Being a family means you are a part of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life.”
