Vermont is a family-friendly area, only a short twenty minutes drive from Melbourne’s CBD. A great suburb for family photography. Vermont is clean and tidy with lots of friendly faces. It has all the basics covered such as restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, schools and parks. Vermont is a great place for people who love the outdoors! If you’re into walking or cycling, Vermont is the suburb for you. There are lots of walking tracks which end up in the Dandenong creek area. The 49 kilometre Dandenong Creek Trail flows around Vermont, taking you on a pretty bushland journey. This is a popular trail for pedestrians and cyclists as it takes them around the outer eastern through to the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. There is no major shopping precint in Vermont but it’s so close to the neigbouring Ringwood where there’s plenty to offer, including a very large and luxurious Eastland Shopping Centre (which can make a good backdrop on an empty day!)

The nearby Jells Park is a 127-hectare conservation area. Thousands of visitors flock to the sprawling spaces of Jells Park each year to walk, run picnic and barbeque. Jells Park is a wonderful spot for bird lovers. Here, you can spot many different native birds as well as pelicans and herons! Jells Park and the neighbouring Shepherds Bush and Nortons Park offers a lot of beautiful spots for a family photoshoot any time of the year. Your four-legged family members are also welcome here so you can include them in your family photoshoot! There’s a beautiful lake in walking distance where you can sit and watch the wildlife. The kids will keep themselves occupied with the multiple sets of play equipment there. For those who choose not to bring a picnic, there is Madeline’s at Jells which is located in the heart of Jells Park. The great thing about Madeline’s is that it’s dog-friendly!

Vermont is also near Chesterfield Farm which is a great place to head for fun day out with the family. There are plenty of animals to pet and feed there and you’ll get a glimse of how a farm is run. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll get to milk the cow when they have their cow-milking demostration! Chesterfield Farm is a popular place for children’s birthday parties which are set up in their barns. The children can enjoy a tractor ride around the farm as well as pony rides on the weekends. There’s a lovely cafe where adults can grab a coffee to keep their energy levels up!

Chesterfield Farm is an amazing spot for a family photography session as well. A photography permit fee may apply as this is a private property.
