Warrandyte Family & Newborn Photographer

Warrandyte is a beautiful bushy suburb, situated on the Yarra River is a 30 km drive from Melbourne’s CBD. And what a location we have here for beautiful family photography. Wonga Park, Kangaroo Ground,  Park Orchards are all close by and are very suited for your family photos.  Warrandyte has been a gold mining town in the past, then it attracted painters and potters.

The Warrandyte Market is a special event. It is held on the first Sunday of every month (except for January) which attracts a lot of locals and visitors to the area. Situated right along the Yarra River, the Warrandyte Market is one of the most scenic markets in Melbourne with lots of wonderful crafts, plants, art and food on offer. This is a picture-perfect scene which is a must to visit but avoid that day when you want your family photos taken in that area.

Family Photography Locations in Warrandyte

As Family photographers we love Warrandyte, with all of its luscious surrounding. It is full of beautiful photographic locations. The Warrandyte State Park is mostly situated along the banks of the Yarra River. Take a picnic there and watch for the native animals. Koalas, kangaroos, platypuses, wombats, possums, owls, kingfishers, sugar gliders and snakes reside in the parklands. Turn your family photography session in a small adventure. 

In the summertime, you’ll be able to kick off your shoes and wade in the cool river water. The Yarra River is a popular spot for canoeing. Canoes can be rented if you don’t own one or you could book an organised canoeing trip for a lovely experience. Make sure you get plenty of photos of your adventures when you explore by yourself. Fourth Hill site in Warrandyte has old mine shafts for visitors to explore. These old mine shafts can be dangerous and you would be entering at your own risk! There’s a picnic area and when in season, there is a beautiful display of wildflowers. Take the family for a walk or go horseriding along the trail! Pound Bend Reserve has grassy spots for picnics. And it’s one very nice location for family photography. Go in summer if you want to swim in this popular Warrandyte location. Go for some koala spotting along the walking trails. Horseriding is also permitted in this area. The Pound Bend Tunnel, formerly a diversion for the course of the Yarra River in the gold mining days, is great for swimming. Take your canoe or hire one for a relaxing ride on the Yarra River. For a great view of the entrance of the Pound Bend Tunnel, head to Normans Reserve nearby. Have a spare seat in a kayak? Take us along for your photos – we are always open for some adventure. It’s another lovely picnic, swimming and canoeing area. Normans Reserve is one of the few parks in Warrandyte which allows you to take dogs on leads.

If you’re into mining sites and relics, visit Whipstick Gully Reserve. You can choose to go on a self-guided walk along the Gold Heritage Walk. Take the family there for a picnic and explore the area. Black Flat area nearby has old mine diggings for you to explore. This open woodland park is a great place to picnic and bird watching. After exploring the old mine shafts, head to Jumping Creek Reserve for some bushwalking along a nature trail. Take a dip in the Yarra River there to cool yourself down in summer. Canoeing is also permitted there.
